My Perfect Wedding; The Bride & Groom

First, this weekend has been an incredible weekend. My family came up from Las Vegas and it was just like Christmas morning; Robert's family sent up stuff with them and my family also brought up little gifts for us. Family is the best! We spent Saturday going to the temple and hanging out with the family. I also made this butternut squash soup, which is to die for. I tweaked it a little bit, but it was delicious.

We have also recently inherited about 30 lbs of apples,  {our school gardens + mother dear = we are blessed} so ideas people, please! I already have apple cheddar soup on this weeks menu, probably twice {mostly because I just love it that much} and I am not big into cakes, pies, candy, etc. so I probably wont be making apple cake everyday this week.

As for wedding pictures, here is to the bride and groom{yes, I just gave a shout out to my husband & I}.

The Perfect Wedding; Family

On Thursday night Robert and I got our wedding pictures! On Friday I had another big Anatomy exam {which I totally rocked by the way; any question about hormones or the heart, I'm your girl} so we decided to wait until last night so the both of us could look at them together. The pictures turned out better than I could have hoped. Shout out to Jimmy Bishop of Gideon Photography.

Robert and I were married on August 27 in the Las Vegas temple. It was my perfect wedding, mostly because I had my perfect man/groom. The sealing was perfect, the luncheon was perfect, and the reception was out of this world.

There were a few things that made this day as perfect as it was {besides the groom}, and one of those was family. So many family members traveled down from various parts of the country; it meant the world to both Robert and I.

Here is to having the the two best families I could have ever wished for.

 There are too many beautiful pictures to put onto one blog post; so there will be 2-3 wedding picture posts to follow.

Happy Weekend!

16 going on 17

My little sister, Layne is turning 17 today!

{she is a hottie mc hott hott}

Layne is the coolest. Part of this is because she is has the last name of Wixom, and she call pull off a feathery Pocahontas and wear headbands like an Egyptian. She also is pretty much the smartest 17 year old I know. Let's just say right now she is in the process to applying to every prestigious university in the country, someday hoping to be a Supreme Court Judge. {I know she really just wants to come to BYU-Idaho to party with me.}
While she is off partying in Disneyland with her best-friend, I get to dissect a cadaver. {I still can't decide what is cooler}. Love you homie!

oh Jesus I love you, and Buddha too.

This week we have been learning about Buddhism in my Humanities class. In the last week I have gone to a meditation seminar and tried to live past my Holy Envy for Buddhism. Has it worked? nope. I've pretty much turned to embracing the idea. {in a non sac-religious way, still 100% believer in the Gospel of Jesus Christ}

Listen to this:
Buddhists have "the right" ideals that they live by every day.
The Right
1. Views
2. Intetions
3. Speech
4. Actions
5. Livelihood
6. Effort
7. Mindfulness
8. Concentration

The second part of Buddhism I am trying to embrace is the following:
Referring to an instrument: a tight string can be plucked, but it would brake; therefore being of no use. On the other hand a loose string is of no use because it can not be plucked.

Lastly, I love meditation and Yoga. At the seminar the director showed us this mindfulness website that was an introduction and a beginners guide to meditation and mindfulness.

I love learning about all the cool ideologies that different religions. They all have a different way to embrace good Christian living, and there is no harm in that.

In honor of my new found fascination for Buddhism I made Thai Coconut Curry Noodles for dinner. {okay, I also made it because we got everything for it in our Bountiful Baskets and I was already planning on making it}

And I have also been listening to good ol' Mason Jennings

Oh, how I have holy envy for some things Buddhist.

Happy Tuesday!

just blame my broken iPhone

Last week I planned a date. How did it turn out? It didn't.
I  had volunteered Robert & I to go help out at an Elementary School Halloween Carnival. {okay, so it doesn't sound like the most romantic date, but I was so excited!
It started off with a failed attempt to sell our plasma and Robert having to run home. {long story}
Then, we left to head out to Burton Elementary. Somehow I missed that there are two Burton Elementary Schools in Madison County; we ended up at the more historical {or just ghetto}, Burton Elementary.
{Robert was pretty bummed}

To ease the date disappointment, I decided to take our date not to the real Burton Elementary, but instead:
{Mesa Falls}
 I was planning on keeping our obligations to help the little children; however, my iPhone is broken and we couldn't find our way there {it was completely out of my control}. Happy day; I have a broken iPhone!

Can I just say that spontaneous dates are out of this world? Let me just also say that the perfect way to end a busy week & a date is just a good episode of Psych.

sometimes

There are those sometimes days that only seem to happen at a certain time in life.
Sometimes, I wake up in Rexburg, it is 36 degrees, and it urges me to listen to Christmas music a little too early, and sometimes I just crack.

Sometimes I do my Physiology lab prep while Robert studies and I just get really excited and take my excitement out on my notes. Sometimes my professor just laughs and says he doesn't know how I am so scattered brained and yet still finish my lab first with all the right answers. {after looking at this:}

Sometimes I don't wear enough clothes to school and sometimes it just snows.

Sometimes Rexburg decides to skip Fall, and sometimes I just wish I could combine

Fall in London {Hyde Park}

Robert

But sometimes cuddling {with Mr. Husband and my Anat & Phys textbook}, listening to Christmas music, and watching the snow fall is just as good.
