This New Life

In the past two months we have moved from Rexburg to Reno, had a baby and started medical school. Needless to say in the past two months my life has done a complete 180 and it took me a while to adjust, but I feel like we finally have some consistency and a routine down in this new life of ours!

And this is what we have been up to:

We spent a considerable amount of time preparing the nursery for our new addition. My friend Tiffany painted the wood plank art for my baby shower gift, inspired by RH Baby & Child. I am obsessed with it! She did such a good job.  

Before little Calvin joined our family Robert was "nesting" and he painted the USS Constitution on wood plank for Calvin's bathroom.

While he was busy painting, so was I! It took us about three weeks, but we found a dresser for Calvin's room. There were some nicks on it, and I didn't want a pure white dresser for his room. I was inspired by a two tone dresser on Censtational Girl, and decided to go for it. We painted the drawers blue, and then mixed it with white for the rest of the dresser. I still don't have a picture of the finished dresser because I am still trying to find descent knobs to replace the battered ones with.

In the last few weeks as I have adjusted to only having 45 minutes of Robert's time a day, I have made a goal to do one home/ crafty project a week. Sadly, it is a lot harder to accomplish with a 6 week old than one would expect.

 Along with my projects and Robert's studying, we have this little ham to keep us me busy.
Robert is good enough to get Clavin ready for bed each night. We have the same routine: bath, lotion massage, PJ's, bottle, swaddle and song. While Robert draws Calvin's bath he will stick Calvin's feet in the running water and Calvin loves it! (Even if his face says otherwise). Lately Robert has been teaching Calvin all about Embryology while they do their night time routine. (Med school really is on Robert's mind, all the time)

And…he is officially in his 0-3 month clothing! Which also means he can finally rock his Toms…cue the happy dance.

A Little Refashion + 16 Weeks

Hey, guess what? We are having a baby! 

Back in early July (of 2013) Robert and I were pleasantly surprised when we saw the second little faint line on the pregnancy test! I definitely had a few days of panic-okay, maybe it was a few weeks of panic. By the time I got to about week 9 (3 weeks later) I was feeling over the panic and embraced the fact that we were having a baby and the panic grew to excitement. March was sure to be a great month! We told our families when I hit 13 weeks; a week later I had some pretty bad cramping, started to bleed and devastatingly the pregnancy ended in miscarriage. A hospital stay and a big fat hospital bill later, things were getting much better around these parts. 

During the first few weeks of that pregnancy I was perusing around Pinterest and fell in LOVE with the idea of doing a weekly maternity series. Everyone I had talked to that had done one loved doing it, and highly recommended it. I had seen the classic chalkboard series, but it just wasn't me and I wasn't completely in love with it. Plus, I wasn't about to spend an hour writing on a chalkboard for a picture. However; I did find this series and loved the idea of wearing the same dress through the whole thing!

I bought two of the same striped maternity shirts (one in size up than I normally wear). I took out the rouching in the larger one, chopped it off below the arm pits, sewed the two together, and waaallah a new maternity dress. 

Long story short, come November Robert and I had another little surprise! This time we waited a little longer to tell people (for obvious reasons), and are thrilled to add another little addition to our family. I also got to pull this lovely dress out of the back of my closet. 

I take the pictures myself, and right about week 15 I finally figured out how I wanted the self-portait to look.(How zoomed I should be, my stance, in the middle or off to the side, etc) So, sorry for the inconsistency in the first 3 pictures. 

I am technically currently 17 weeks, but since we find out the gender on Friday (TWO DAYS!!), I wanted to wait to take my picture then. Also, I am secretly hoping I will actually have a bump by then. Right now I am going through the "Is she pregnant or getting fat?" stage; and looking at these pictures I sure do feel like I am documenting myself getting fat! ha, hopefully in a few weeks it wont feel like that.

July 22nd couldn't come sooner!
